West Hollywood Library To Serve As Cooling Center

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Temperatures in Beverly Hills are expected to reach 99 degrees Tuesday and 91 Wednesday, and remain in the upper 80s throughout the week. The heat wave is expected to strain the power grid, and residents may experience blackouts and brownouts.

Should that happen, Beverly Hillers can head to nearby cooling centers, county designated spaces for free, public air conditioning.

Here are the centers closest to town:

• West Hollywood Public Library, 625 N. San Vicente Blvd, open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Buena Vista Library, 300 N. Buena Vista St., Burbank; Monday-Thursday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
• St. Barnabas Senior Services, 675 S. Carondelet St., Los Angeles, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Visitors are asked to wear masks, maintain six feet of social distancing, and refrain from entering if they’re experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. Staff reserve the right to turn people away to maintain social distancing levels.

If you cannot get to a cooling center, try closing window shades and curtains, drinking plenty of water, taking a cool shower or bath, limiting strenuous activities, and avoid using stoves or ovens.
