Wet, Windy, Wintry Weather To Wallop Beverly Hills

A winter storm warning is bringing high winds, cold temperatures, heavy rain, possible thunderstorms, and even some snow across the region.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Batten down the hatches and put the kettle on - Beverly Hills is about to get cold and wet.

As a winter storm barrels its way into the Southland, Beverly Hills will see lows of 44 degrees, rain, possible thunderstorms, and winds of up to 25 mph from Tuesday morning until Thursday night.
A winter storm warning will take effect at 10 p.m. Tuesday and continue until 10 p.m. Thursday for Los Angeles County mountains, excluding the Santa Monica range, with the National Weather Service anticipating snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches and potentially up to 15 inches above 4,500 feet.

"A rain band looks to move into the region late Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, then a cold and unstable air mass will continue showers with low snow levels down to 2,500-3,500 feet," according to the National Weather Service. "Accumulating snowfall will likely affect travel through the Interstate 5 Corridor and on Highway 14.

National Weather Service forecasters said the rain will be heavy at times on Wednesday, with up to 1.5 inches of rain higher in the mountains. In Beverly Hills on Wednesday, there will be an 80 percent chance of rain, possibly thunderstorms, and wind speeds of up to 25 miles an hour.

The storm system is expected to move off to the east on Thursday, although a smaller system could bring additional showers and some isolated thunderstorms on Thursday.

Dry, slightly warmer weather is expected to return by Friday and continue through the weekend.
