Carjacking Police Chase Ends In Bel Air

A man allegedly carjacked a vehicle from a dealership using an assault rifle before leading police on a wild wrongway chase.

NORTH HILLS, CA — Police arrested a high-speed chase suspect who allegedly carjacked a vehicle from a North Hills auto dealership armed with an assaultrifle. The wild chase wound through the San Fernando Valley, with the suspect running red lights and weaving through traffic oncoming traffic Ventura Boulevard and ending in Bel Air.

Police responded to a report of a carjacking at about 8:35 p.m. at a dealership in the 15400 block of Roscoe Boulevard, near Sepulveda Boulevard, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver tore through red lights sped head-on into oncoming traffic on busy Boulevard and multiple other streets before heading south on Sepulveda Boulevard, through the pass and into Bel-Air. That's where the car clipped a police vehicle slowed to a stop in the 900 block of Moraga Drive.

The suspect eventually got out of the vehicle and officers took him into custody.
