Fire Destroys Massive Brentwood Mansion

Several firefighters were treated at the scene for exertion battling a stubborn blaze that engulfed a $14 million mansion.

BRENTWOOD , CA — A stubborn fire destroyed a multi-million-dollar Brentwood mansion early Friday morning. Several firefighters battling the blaze had to be treated for exertion at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze, which broke out just before 4 a.m. at the 300 block of North Rockingham Avenue. The fire engulfed a vacant 7,552-square-foot, one-story ranch-style home, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

It took crews about two and a half hours to put out the the flames Humphrey said. The cause of the fire was under investigation. A damage estimate was not immediately available.

"There was no civilian injury, (but) several firefighters were examined and treated on scene for extreme exertion during the intense and prolonged firefight," Humphrey said. "None required hospital care."

CBS2 reported the house was sold earlier this year for $13.7 million.
