Home Marilyn Monroe Died In Hits LA Market

WOW House: Marilyn Monroe loved her little house so much, she once said, "Anybody who likes my house, I'm sure I'll get along with."

LOS ANGELES, CA — The charming Spanish hacienda Marilyn Monroe died in has hit the Brentwood market for $6.9 million. The "Some Like It Hot" star only lived in the home four short months before her body was found by her psychologist in the master bedroom in 1962. Though one of the most famous celebrities of all time, Monroe was only 36 when she died of a pill overdose. But she loved the house, the only one she ever bought by herself, according to Realtor.com. She identified with the home so closely, she once said, "Anybody who likes my house, I'm sure I'll get along with."

Monroe wasn't the only star to fall in love with 12305 5th Helena Drive. In the early '70s, it was bought by actors Michael Irving and Veronica Hamel (“Hill Street Blues”), according to Variety. The pair set about remodeling the home only to discover "government grade eavesdropping and telephone tapping system that extended into every room of the house," the magazine reported.

While some theorize the bugging system was installed by the government due to Monroe's affair with President John F. Kennedy, famed celebrity investigator Fred Otash later claimed she hired him to install the system herself, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
