You can leave you tree out on trash day or take it to one of 18 drop-off locations.

The city’s Bureau of Sanitation is offering curbside pick-up of Christmas trees, and will also accept them at 18 drop-off locations on Jan. 4, Los Angeles officials announced today.
Trees can be either cut up and placed into the green waste recycling bins, or placed next to the green bins on trash day.
Decorations, tinsel and other ornaments should be removed from the trees.

Mayor Eric Garcetti said dried Christmas tree are a fire risk, so the city is making it “easy and free for Angelenos to dispose of them.”
The city’s practice of recycling the trees into mulch and compost also saves the city money and avoids wasting landfill space, he said.
