All northbound lanes of the freeway were closed at 4:17 a.m. and a SigAlert was declared. The resulting traffic jam stretched about two miles from Sunset Boulevard to Getty Center Drive.

The CHP reopened the No. 5 lane at 5:25 a.m. But traffic was being diverted off the 405 Freeway at Getty Center Drive to Sepulveda Boulevard. Drivers can reenter the freeway at the Skirball Center Drive onramp, Cassidy said.
