Officials to Cut Ribbon at LAX Terminal 6

Some $238 million was spent on the LAX terminal, which began operation this week.

City officials will be lining up at the Los Angeles International Airport Tuesday morning, but they won't be waiting for a flight.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Councilman Bill Rosendahl, Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director Gina Marie Lindsey and Alaska Airlines CEO Bill Ayer will be keeping their shoes on for a ribbon-cutting ceremony of the upgraded Terminal 6, which started operations this week, City News Service reported.

The upgrade cost $238 million and was part of a $4.1 billion dollar pot meant to modernize the airport, according to City News Service.
