100 Cancellations, 160 Delays at SFO: Storm Impact So Far
The airport is on a ground delay program Friday. [BREAKING]

BURLINGAME, CA — If you're one of the thousands of people who may be planning to travel out of San Francisco International Airport on Friday, you'd better prepare for the possibility of hanging around the Bay Area a bit longer.
As a storm makes its way through the region, several flights have been impacted at SFO, airport officials tell Patch.
As of 10:30 a.m., 100 flights had been cancelled and another 160 had been delayed, according to airport spokesman Doug Yakel.

"We are in a FAA ground delay program," he told Patch by telephone, while explaining that the airport must use the same runways for departures and landings Friday because of the storm and associated winds.
Many of the cancellations are the result of airlines combining flights for the day to help reduce overall delays, he said.

Yakel says that there will likely be more cancellations and delay, but the cancellations should start to taper off.
"The best advice is check with the airline before coming to the airport to verify [your flight] status," he said.
