5 At Burlingame Senior Facility Test for Coronavirus: Report
The results of an additional facility resident who tested for COVID-19 are pending. All six residents have been hospitalized.
BURLINGAME, CA — A Burlingame senior-living center announced Thursday afternoon that five residents tested positive for the new coronavirus and that the test results of an additional resident who was also quarantined are pending, The San Jose Mercury News reports.
All six Atria Burlingame Assisted Living and Memory Care residents were hospitalized.
San Mateo County health officials said in a statement in response to the situation at the facility that “Atria has suspended all non-essential visitation and appointments for residents and has outbreak precautions in place, including twice a day temperature checks for its residents,” the report said.

The facility’s first known case tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.
“The families are freaking out and also because they can’t see their loved ones, they can’t see them physically. At all. And we don’t know when we will,” Julie Berk, the daughter of a couple living at the Burlingame facility told ABC-7.

The Burlingame facility offers independent living and assisted-living units and is not classified as a nursing home, the report said.
