GreenCitizen Offers Free Recycling of Large Appliances

GreenCitizen announced that it has expanded its offering of planet-friendly services for consumers and businesses to include free and responsible recycling of large household appliances at its four Bay Area eco-centers located in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Burlingame and Berkeley.

Major home appliances accepted for recycling include refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves and microwave ovens.  In addition to appliances, GreenCitizen will continue its free recycling of monitors and television sets, desktop and laptop computers, printers, fax machines, copiers, home entertainment and stereo equipment, cell phones, answering machines and microwave ovens.  GreenCitizen also collects smaller items such as printer cartridges, CDs, DVDs, and cell phones. A complete list of acceptable items can be found at http://greencitizen.com/what_we_recycle.php

“Many older appliances are not as energy efficient as their newer counterparts and responsible recycling of these appliances will ultimately conserve energy, save consumers money and protect the environment by keeping harmful components out of our landfills,” says James Kao, CEO, GreenCitizen.

GreenCitizen is a socially and environmentally responsible company dedicated to helping consumers and businesses reduce their environmental footprint through proper management of their unwanted or obsolete electronics. GreenCitizen achieves this through a variety of IT services (including computer upgrade and iPhone repair), as well as closed-loop reuse and donation, all aimed at keeping electronics out of the waste stream.  Finally, GreenCitizen offers convenient drop-off and responsible recycling locations for end-of-life electronics; a service that is fully accountable all the way through de-manufacturing.

GreenCitizen is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
