Burlingame Pet Parade seeks parade marshal

Your pet might lead the parade in a chauffeured classic car

Organizers of the Burlingame Pet Parade are looking for a parade marshal for this year's parade, which will take place on Saturday, September 29, beginning at 10 a.m. on Broadway. The parade marshal usually rides at the front of the parade with his or her owner in a chauffeured classic car. It can be either an unusual pet, one with extraordinary talents or one belonging to a famous person. Last year's Pet Parade marshal was a pet therapy pig named Pickles, who is shown in the photo with his owner, Maddie Johnson of San Francisco.

Those who wish to nominate a parade marshal for this year's parade marshal should contact Ayn Gilmore at ayn@avrr.com or (650) 342-2073.

The 15th annual Burlingame Pet Parade is expected to attract more than 2,000 people. Public and private school students in kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to compete for cash prizes in the “Best School Float” contest. Prizes are also awarded in other categories. There is no charge to participate. Pet owners who wish to march with their pets must report by 9:30 a.m. to the parking lot near Broadway and Chula Vista Avenue.
