Burlingame Student Hailed as Unsung Hero
A high school junior was recognized for her work in the international community.

A Burlingame High School junior, Isabela Acenas, recently received the Unsung Hero Award from the Jefferson Awards Foundation for her extensive community service work.
According to a release from the school, Acenas has been serving the international community for the past six years. She took part in an independent international service trip to volunteer at the Tahanan ng Pagmamahal orphanage in the Metro Manila region of the Philippines.
After returning home Acenas started the EducAide project, which provides books and school supplies for public elementary schools in Pasig City. She also started the House of Love Project that directly supports the Metro Manila orphanage.

She will continue to work to give back to those in need, as she feels it is her duty to help others when you are a healthy person with the resources to do so.
