In my video yesterday, I said class lists would be available from school sites
September 21st and it is actually August 21st. My apologies for any
confusion.
Thank you,
Chris

Dear Burlingame Community,
I have a lot to share with all of you today as we continue to respond to Covid19 and the impacts it has to our school year and model of learning. Today's primary message comes in the form of a video regarding everyone returning to school in Distance Learning and the link to the video, hosted on YouTube can be found here. I have tried to incorporate elements proposed by teachers, principals and some parents that are letting me know what they want to hear about or give me tips on reducing the glare or having the video run more smoothly - all assistance is welcome!

I wanted to share the San Mateo County Office of Education press release from yesterday with it's associated links. This press release gives a concise update as to where we are as a county and how it impacts education with further resources for those of you interested and the link to that site can be found here. This link is from the APA and is a short article providing tips for parents (or
teachers) to help their students with self-regulation. It was a great reminder for me as I read it that education is a branch of psychology and of useful approaches to help build resilience of our learners.
Today, we have launched a consolidated web portal for all the resources for our return to school plan in one spot. This portal has a consolidated FAQ that is easier to read, includes the recordings of presentations and provides some greater context around BSD's 5 Pillars of Safe Return to School. There is a lot of information included here and it is worth a rad for those interested. This took a lot of work for our Director of Innovation to put together in a cohesive manner and it will grow and evolve as the conversation and planning evolves. BSD Safe Reopening Portal.
Thank you all for your continued input and outreach, I have had some deep and rich conversations with parents, principals and teachers as well as started to virtually meet more and more people which is really helpful. It was requested that I continue to produce videos that are easier to follow /
understand as well as keep everything to email so I will do both to appeal to a greater variety of needs. Out of courtesy, these messages are going to site principals first, then staff, followed by parents on the same day, approximately one hour apart so that everyone has an opportunity to digest the information shared.
Have a wonderful Wednesday evening.
Thank you,
Mr. Chris Mount-Benites
Superintendent
