'Extremely Rare' Bonded Cat Trio Needs A Home, SMC Shelter Says
"These three cats are all very sociable and outgoing. It's an opportunity for someone to add three very sweet animals to their family."
BURLINGAME, CA — Peninsula animal shelter workers this week asked for the community's help in finding the perfect family for a trio of "bonded" felines that need a forever home. The trio —named Iona, Skye and Harris after three islands off the coast of Scotland — includes two adult female cats and one male kitten.
The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA says the cats were left in one of their after-hours enclosures last month. There was no information left with them, but the shelter believes they are related to each other.
"We believe based on their ages, the two adult cats are probably a mother and daughter," PHS/SPCA Communications Manager Buffy Martin Tarbox said. "The younger of the adult cats was nursing the male kitten, but the older adult cat helps take care of the kitten too. All three of the cats are very attached to each other, so we made a decision that all three felines must be adopted together."

Though it's not unusual for the shelter to adopt out bonded animals — they usually come in pairs, not trios.
“[I]t’s extremely rare for us to have a bonded trio," Martin Tarbox said. "These three cats are all very sociable and outgoing. It’s an opportunity for someone to add three very sweet animals to their family."

The adoption fee for all three cats is $120. They are currently at PHS/SPCA’s Center for Compassion, located at 1450 Rollins Road in Burlingame.
