Fatal Crash Shuts Down I-280 Lanes In Millbrae

A fatal crash in shut down parts of Interstate 280 in Millbrae Tuesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol reported.

MILLBRAE, CA — At least one person was killed in a crash on southbound Interstate 280 in Millbrae Tuesday afternoon, according to preliminary California Highway Patrol logs.

The right lane of southbound I-280 south of Hillcrest Boulevard was blocked and the southbound I-280 on-ramp to Hillcrest was also closed, according to a traffic alert sent at 2:34 p.m.

At 1:50 p.m., the CHP reported a white Dodge pickup truck had driven off the highway and into trees. The truck was reportedly engulfed in flames, according to an update two minutes later, and a fatality was reported at 2:11 p.m.

No details about the victim were immediately available

Drivers were advised to expect delays and use alternate routes, with no timetable given for when the roadway will reopen.
