Hillsborough Burglaries Probed

Three incidents have been reported to the Hillsborough Police Department since late January.

HILLSBOROUGH, CA — Burglars have hit three Hillsborough homes since late January, police said.

All three incidents involved similar methods of forced entry in which the suspects smashed a window or sliding glass door window in rear of the residence. The homes were unoccupied in each incident according to police.

An alarm was only activated in one of the incidents, police said.

The disturbed areas in each incident consisted mainly of the main bedroom and master bathroom, police said.

It is not clear whether the incidents are related according to police.

In the first incident, which occurred Jan. 28 on Patton Place, burglars smashed through rear sliding glass door window, activating an alarm. The burglars got away with some jewelry, police said.

The second incident occurred on Feb. 6 between 3:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Lupine Way and the third burglary occurred between Feb. 6 and Feb 8 in the 1000 block of Macadamia Drive. No losses were reported in either incident according to police.

“Other than the timeframe, there is no strong evidence to suggest that the crimes are related,” police said in a statement.

“Residential security camera footage has been obtained in some of these cases. We are in the process of reviewing the images and sharing this information with our allied agencies to aid in suspect identification.”

The Hillsborough Police Department is requesting residents in the area of the burglaries to check their surveillance systems for any suspicious persons or vehicles during the time frames of the crimes.

The Hillsborough Police Department strongly encourages the use of residential burglar alarm and surveillance systems.
