Burlingame Nonprofits Get Kaiser Grants
On Monday Kaiser Permanente announced recipients of its grants ranging from $5,000 to $35,000 for community programs that improve health---in every way from obesity to violence. CORA and Shelter Network were among the recipients.
Kaiser Permanente announced its annual Community Benefit Grant recipients Monday, which included several Burlingame organizations and many other north San Mateo County groups.
Burlingame-based Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA), PARCA, the American Heart Association and Shelter Network (now InnVision Shelter Network) all received grants.
“This funding will help provide a positive impact on our communities’ health,” said Kaiser Senior Vice President and Area Manager Frank Beirne. “Partnering with community based organizations is one way we help transform neighborhoods and communities into healthier places to live, work, and play."

Grant applicants were required to address one of five health priorities: childhood obestiy, access to care, at-risk youth behavior, health of our aging population, and violence.
Kaiser's Community Benefit Advisory Board evaluated more than 100 applications before awarding $610,000 in grants.
