Listeria Threat: California Smoked Salmon Recalled

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced the recall of smoked salmon produced by Santa Barbara Smokehouse of Santa Barbara “because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.”

Listeriosis is especially dangerous in pregnant women, causing miscarriages and stillbirths.

The recalled salmon was sold under the following brands:

• Cambridge House
• Coastal Harbor
• Harbor Point
• North Shore S.F. Specialty
• Channel Islands
• Santa Barbara

The recalled batch range is: 1015 – 3949.

The dates the salmon was processed: March 1 to April 8, 2015.
