Museum Studios Presents 'Myrna Wacknov: Lifescapes'
'Lifescapes: The Intersection of External Experience and Internal Response' by Myrna Wacknov will open on Jan. 26 in Burlingame.
From Museum Studios: The work of Myrna Wacknov will be featured in a solo exhibit, Lifescapes: The Intersection of External Experience and Internal Response, at the Museum Studios Gallery. The exhibit will be on view from January 26 to March 12, 2017 with an artist reception January 29, from 2-4. Admission is free.
Wacknov imbues her powerful mixed-media portraits with a strong sense of vitality and character. Known for her vibrant, powerful portraits, the once watercolor traditionalist has been successfully pushing beyond conventional techniques over the years to explore new and exciting ways of working with all types of media.
As Wacknov notes, “I have always been drawn to faces. It is still one of the most miraculous things to me that every one is unique on the outside and so familiar on the inside. I prefer to work from photographs as my camera can capture those unguarded moments that are impossible to sustain in a sitting. After rendering a more traditional rendition, I also enjoy manipulating the image in various digital applications which inspires me to create unusual variations for a series.”
Wacknov has acquired signature status in five national watercolor societies, won numerous awards in national competitions, and has been featured in Watercolor Artist, Watercolor Magic, American Artist, The Artist Magazine, The Palette Magazine, L’Aquarelle, and has images in numerous art books including the Splash series, Incite series, A Stroke of Genius series, Acrylic Artist and Acrylic Works.
