New Mural Welcomes SFO Visitors With Vibrant Colors

SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, CA — A new mural will welcome travelers at San Francisco International Airport this week, depicting the city's most famous landmarks with vibrant bursts of color and texture.

Leah Rosenberg, the artist who designed the mural, positioned pieces of San Francisco, including the Castro District and the Museum of Modern Art, alongside wooden slats and mirrors that reflect the hustle and bustle of the large airport.

The mural is titled "Everywhere, a Color" and stands 20 feet tall and 27 feet wide above the check-in desk at Gate G96. The piece includes powder-coated aluminum, acrylic mirror and other multimedia.

Rosenberg said she explored the city as a tourist to make the mural, and it imitates a map of San Francisco.

"I am not just gathering color, but gathering the psyche of what brings color to the lives of people," Rosenberg said in a news release.

The San Francisco Arts Commission and SFO collaborated to introduce the mural to guests and locals, who they hope will find a "unique sense of place" when traveling through the airport.
