Sexual Assault Reported At Peninsula BART Station

The woman told police that she'd been assaulted in an elevator. Police are reviewing overnight surveillance video.

MILLBRAE, CA — BART police are looking for a suspect believed to have sexually assaulted a woman in a Millbrae BART station elevator early Friday morning.

The assault happened before the station opened. A BART station agent saw the woman on a surveillance camera and called BART police.

The woman told police that she'd been assaulted in an elevator. Police are reviewing overnight surveillance video.

Investigators have identified a possible suspect, 38-year-old Roberto Marenco, who is homeless. Marenco is described as a Hispanic man standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He drives a white Ford cargo van with a California license plate 7V40543.

Anyone with information about the assault has been asked to contacted BART police at (510) 464-7045.
