String Of Hillsborough Home Burglaries Under Investigation

Police are investigating and stepping up patrols after three similar home burglaries were reported in Hillsborough within 24 hours.

HILLSBOROUGH, CA — Police are investigating after three similar home burglaries were reported in Hillsborough within 24 hours, according to a San Mateo County alert.

In all cases, the residents were not home, and the suspect or suspects entered by breaking the glass of a rear sliding door or window on the first floor, Hillsborough police said.

The first burglary happened around 7:08 p.m. Friday on Mountain Wood Lane, where the suspect or suspects apparently fled after triggering a security alarm.

The second burglary happened on Farm Lane between 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. that same night, and the third occurred sometime between 9 a.m. Friday and 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Tournament Drive, police said.

There is evidence linking the burglaries together, police said. Police are reviewing security footage and are asking residents in the area to check their own cameras for any suspicious people or vehicles recorded during the timeframe of the crimes.

Hillsborough police are increasing patrols around the town in an effort to prevent burglaries, the department said.
