Superintendent Search: Community Meeting

A community meeting will be held for residents to weigh in on the superintendent search.

The oard of Trustees will hold a community meeting  tonight at 5 p.m. to encourage resident involvement in the search for a new superintendent. Former superintendent from her position effective Jan. 1. Jud Kempson is acting as interim superintendent.

At the public meeting, residents are asked to give input on the superintendent search consultants. After the meeting, the trustees will enter a closed session before the regular board meeting begins at 6 p.m.

The ongoing discussion on the Hoover school site at 2220 Summit Dr. will continue. After brainstorming and narrowing a list of potential school types for the site at their , the trustees will debate the pros and cons of each in an attempt to reach a decision for Hoover’s use.

Financial planning will also be a main focus of the meeting. The third series of Measure A Bond sales—a $48.3 million measure passed in 2007—is scheduled to begin in March for $12.8 million. The board members will additionally discuss potentially introducing a new bond measure. A poll concerning bond measures and parcel taxes was reviewed at a Jan. 27 meeting, and while a parcel tax has been taken off the table, a bond measure placed on a June or November ballot remains a possibility.
