Upward Credit Union CEO Linda White Honored

Linda White, president and CEO for Upward Credit Union in Burlingame, was among those honored at this year’s California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues’ REACH Conference.

White received the Kim Bannan Eternal Flame Award, which recognize efforts that contribute to the success and future of “Shapiro Group” credit unions, which have less than $100 million in assets. The awards are named after the Leagues’ late vice president of credit union development and research and information. She was honored during the annual meeting and convention for the Ontario, CA-based trade association for the two states, held Nov. 6-9 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.

This year’s recipient in the individual category, White was recognized for her long-standing and strong support of Shapiro-sized (smaller) credit unions, including serving as chair of the Shapiro Advisory Committee. She began her career as a teller at a small credit union and has moved up to become the CEO of Upward CU. Throughout her career, White has been very involved in the credit union movement, including various committees and organizations.

For her accomplishments, she received the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues’ Distinguished Service Award in 2012. In addition, she has demonstrated her support of smaller credit unions by her willingness to collaborate, offer assistance, or just lend an ear.

“I remember Kim and all that she did and am honored and humbled to receive this award in her name,” White said. “I am even more appreciative of the nomination from a peer for recognizing what I do to support my peers and the credit union community.”
