Calabasas Gelson's Employee Tests Positive For Coronavirus

An employee at Gelson's in Calabasas was diagnosed last week with the coronavirus. The store closed for a day to be sanitized.

CALABASAS — An employee at Gelson’s Market at the intersection of Mullholland Drive and Mullholland Highway in Calabasas tested positive for the coronavirus last Tuesday. The store was closed the following day and sanitized overnight.

The anonymous employee worked their last shift on Friday, April 17, and the company did not learn of the diagnosis until the following Tuesday. “The employee was interviewed in detail about other employees they interacted with at the store, and those employees are now at home self-quarantining,” Mayor Weintraub told The Acorn, noting that no other employees at the store reported any symptoms.

The supermarket was closed April 22 and cleaned overnight with a chemical fogging system, and reopened the next morning. The company said that sick employees are asked to stay home, and paid for the shifts they miss due to illness.
