Fire-wise Garden Tour

Learn how native plants and landscaping techniques can protect your home in a wildfire on a self-guided home tour with local landscape pros.

Mountains Restoration Trust (MRT) and Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers & Native Plants (TPF) are hosting a timely and innovative, self-guided home garden tour to show how native plant landscaping can help protect properties in high-risk fire areas. The tour features three Calabasas homes, each with at least 50% California natives. Docents will be on hand to discuss design and maintenance techniques that minimize danger to the home, including plant selection and home preparation. Participants must pre-register; fee is $5. MRT is a non-profit that preserves the natural and cultural resources of the Santa Monica Mountains. TPF is a non-profit that inspires and educates Southern Californians about the beauty and ecological benefits of California native plant landscapes.
