CALABASAS, CA — The City of Calabasas on Wednesday announced Kindon Meik has been named its new city manager.

The city, in a news release, said Meik will replace interim city manager Don Penman, who has served in the position since Nov. 16, 2020. Meik's first day as city manager will be March 15.

Meik is no stranger to public service, the city said. Before coming to Calabasas, he served as city manager of the City of Corcoran and the City of Lindsay.

While in Corcoran, Meik spearheaded improvements to the city's parks and helped secure funding for an additional eight-acre park. He also led a 2017 initiative to pass a local transaction and use tax to safeguard the city's reserves, protect public safety and maintain recreation facilities, the release states.

In 2019, the City of Corcoran also constructed a new police facility and 911 dispatch center under Meik's leadership.

Meik said he is honored to have been placed in the role, writing in a statement, “I am eager to begin working with the City Council to implement their vision and goals for the upcoming year. Calabasas is an extraordinary community and I look forward to helping shape the next decade of the city’s history.”

The city said Meik holds Ph.D. in history from Florida International University and bachelors and Master's degrees from Brigham Young University. He and his wife, Angela, have six children.
