Lost Hikers Rescued In Tarzana
Two lost hikers were rescued Friday afternoon on Mullholland Drive between Tarzana and Encino.
TARZANA, CA — Two lost hikers were rescued Friday afternoon near Mullholland Drive between Tarzana and Encino, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
LAFD helicopters located to the two young adult male hikers, and they guided LAFD ground crews cooperated with Park Rangers to bring them back to their vehicles unharmed, according to Brian Humphreys of the LAFD.
"Never hike alone, note the area, do research, and take a flashlight, especially if you're hiking later in the day," Humphreys recommended, noting the LAFD deals with dozens of lost hikers in the Santa Monica Mountains each year, most of whom survive unharmed.

The hikers called for help when they had cell service, but if you do not, Humphreys recommended staying on an established, well-traveled trail until bars appear, or asking another hiker if they could make the call for you.
