CALABASAS, CA — A man claiming to be Kim Kardashian's husband tried to break into her Hidden Hills home last week but was stopped by her security guards, a source said Monday.

The unnamed 24-year-old suspect breached Kardashian's main entrance gate around 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 24, according to TMZ before he was stopped by security. As guards questioned the suspect, he claimed that not only did he know Kardashian, but he was her husband. Given that Kardashian is in the middle of a highly-publicized divorce from rapper Kanye West, security were hardly convinced.

The suspect was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and cited for trespassing, although TMZ reports that as of Monday he has been released.

Kardashian has beefed up her security after she was gagged and robbed at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room in 2016. The criminals then made off with an estimated $12.5 million in jewelry. Kardashian said she was determined to never let that happen again, although in 2017 burglars targeted the Bel Air home she once shared with Kanye West.

"At home I have multiple security people. I need someone on every edge of my property," she wrote in a 2018 essay. "I live in a gated community, and have them right at my gate."
