12-Hour Standoff Ends With Arrest In San Jose: Police

The man is accused of threatening his roommate with a weapon on Madera Avenue in the incident called in as a fight that brought SWAT in.

SAN JOSE, CA — A man accused of threatening his roommate with an "edged weapon" has been arrested after a more than 12-hour standoff that stretched from midday Tuesday into early Wednesday morning, according to police.

Officers responded to a report of a fight inside a home in the 500 block of Madera Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. When officers tried to speak to the suspect, he refused and a crisis intervention team and mental health staff were called to the scene, police said.

A SWAT team entered the home around 2:04 a.m. Wednesday and took the suspect into custody. He wasn't identified.
