Funds Support Advance Care Planning, Mindful Self-Care Programs & Educational Lecture Series for Chinese American Older Adults & Caregivers
San Jose CA – June 3, 2021 – The Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care (CACCC) is proud to be a timely recipient of SCAN’s Health Plan Community Giving program COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Grant in the amount of $10,000. The funds will go towards CACCC’s advance care planning; mindful caregiving stress reduction meetings; mindful self-care workshops; Redefining What Matters guest lecture series and bi-weekly caregiver support group meetings for Chinese American older adults age 55+ and family caregivers residing in SCAN’s service areas in Northern and Southern California.
“SCAN is proud to support CACCC’s many programs that positively impact the diverse needs of Chinese American seniors and their families,” said Denise Likar, vice president of Independence at Home. “The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent stay at home orders have proven challenging for seniors, many of whom are socially isolated, and lack basic social supports.”
“We are extremely honored to be a SCAN COVID-19 Emergency Assistance grantee,” said Sandy Chen Stokes, founder of CACCC. Our goal is to virtually reach approximately 1800 older adults age 55+ of intergenerational Chinese American family households and caregivers.
