A man who has served the public for 30 years has decided to take some time for himself.

CAMPBELL - A man who has served the public for 30 years has decided to take some time for himself.
Mark Linder, City Manager of Campbell, announced Friday he would be stepping down from the position by the end of the year.

After 30 years of public service, the City’s CEO says it’s time
Campbell, California – On Friday, June 24, Campbell’s City Manager Mark Linder announced his plans to retire at the end of this year. He served as City Manager since February, 2013.
“I’ve given this a lot of thought and, although I truly enjoy the work I do every day for our residents and businesses, and appreciate working with talented employees in this organization, I’ve come to the realization that I’m turning 70 next month and need to move on to the next chapter of my life,” commented Linder.
Mr. Linder has served as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Cupertino,from 2008 until coming to Campbell. Prior to this, he worked for the City of San Jose from 1995 to 2008 and held positions as Deputy City Manager, Assistant City Manager,and Director of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services.
His other public agency experience includes positions as the Assistant Town Manager for the Town of Los Gatos and as the Assistant General Manager for the Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District.
He was appointed Campbell’s City Manager in 2013 and will have completed almost four years of service upon retirement.
Mr. Linder holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from San Jose State. The Council is contracting with an executive recruiting firm to begin the recruitment selection process for a new City Manager which will occur this summer and into the fall.
“On behalf of the Campbell City Council, we sincerely thank Mark for his leadership and creative solutions. He was instrumental in hiring key department director positions,completing important capital improvement projects such as the Hacienda Avenue GreenStreet project, and ensuring that we had developed and maintained award-winning,balanced operating and capital budgets during his tenure,” commented Mayor Jason Baker.
Mr. Linder’s official last day will be December 31, 2016.
