Campbell Police: Robbery Last Week 'Very Abnormal'
Campbell Police still need the public's help in capturing the robbery suspect.

A brazen daytime robbery of a convenience store in Campbell last week was the second at that location, but is not considered a common crime by police.
On Thursday, Aug. 8 at approximately 11:45 a.m., an armed robbery occurred at the Bottle Shop, 2345 S. Winchester Blvd.
On Thursday, Aug. 8 at approximately 11:45 a.m., an armed robbery occurred at the Bottle Shop, 2345 S. Winchester Blvd.
According to Campbell Police, the suspect was described as a heavy set Hispanic male approximately 5’7.” He was wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and a tan baseball hat.
The robbery was the city's 12th in 2013 so far, Campbell Police Sgt. Gary Berg said. There were 17 robberies in Campbell at this same time in 2012.
"I would not say that the type of robbery that occurred today is common," Berg said. " Actually today's event was very abnormal in the way in which the suspect used the stun gun against the clerk without making further attempts to take more than the drinks."
In May, another robbery tried his luck at robbing the Bottle Shop but a group of vigilant citizens helped police capture the man.
The suspect in the more recent Aug. 8 robbery, however is still at large and police need the public's help in finding him.
"The advice for the residents is to be aware of their surroundings and if they see anything abnormal that raises concern, they should contact the PD," Berg said. "We are very fortunate to have such a supportive community and we have been very successful at solving crimes based on good witness accounts."
Anyone with information regarding the suspect or who witnessed the robbery is asked to contact the Campbell Police Department Investigations Unit at 408-871-5190. Those wishing to remain anonymous can also contact the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at 408-947-STOP (7867).
