Driver Alert: 2 Lanes Of Northbound Lawrence Expressway Shut Down For Next 4-5 Hours
Police in Sunnyvale are recommending detours for drivers heading northbound from south county this afternoon.

SUNNYVALE - The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is advising motorists to avoid northbound Lawrence Expressway north of East Arques Ave. this afternoon due to emergency road repairs.
Lanes #2 and #3 are affected and are currently closed, according to the DPS. According to officials, the repairs are expected to take as long as four to five hours.
The alert was issued at 1:19 p.m. on Nixle, so the road repairs may impact Friday afternoon commute traffic, depending on what time the job is finished.

A check of traffic at 2:20 p.m. showed traffic on the Lawrence Expressway backed up to Kifer Rd, with a trickle of traffic sneaking by the roadwork in the #1 lane.
Good alternatives to reach Highway 101 would be Wolfe Road that turns into N Fair Oaks Ave, or the San Tomas Expressway.
