SAN JOSE, CA -- A 57-year-old man killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday morning in San Jose's Almaden neighborhood has been identified as Robinder Bhurji, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
The collision was reported at 6:23 a.m. at Almaden Expressway between Camden and Redmond avenues, according to police. A red truck hit the victim and fled, and the man was then hit by four other cars while lying in the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bhurji went by "Robin" and was a volunteer teacher at the San Jose Gurdwara's Guru Nanak Khalsa School. He was also a volunteer firefighter in addition to having a full-time job. Several events are planned in his memory through this weekend.
