Human Trafficking, Prostitution Reduction Program Launched: SJPD

The program called the 'Report John' program provides police with much-needed tips and clues to cut down on the problems.

SAN JOSE, CA — San Jose police in an effort to shrink street-level prostitution and human trafficking launched a new program Tuesday that lets residents report suspects who solicit sex workers.

The Report John Program, available on the department's website, is a simple online form to report potential "Johns" and provide information, including photos or license plate data. The form can be accessed with east via a variety of devices, and is the latest addition to a multifaceted approach to reduce street-level prostitution in San Jose.

Councilmember Sylvia Arenas said the program is "a major step forward" and part of a larger effort by her, female councilmembers, police and city administration to improve the city's response to sexual assault, human trafficking, domestic violence and all forms of violence against women.
