SAN JOSE, CA -- A pedestrian killed in a crash Saturday night in East San Jose has been identified as 60-year-old Victor Jefferson, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
Jefferson, of San Jose, was walking across South White Road outside a marked crosswalk at 8:19 p.m. when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla, police said. Jefferson died at the hospital a short time later.
The 19-year-old woman driving the car remained at the scene and cooperated with police, who do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. Jefferson's death was the city's 52nd traffic-related fatality of the year, according to police.
