Pedestrian Struck In August Collision Dies In Hospital

The crash occurred on Aug. 21., when a 71-year-old driver hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

SAN JOSE, CA — A pedestrian struck by a vehicle in San Jose in August died Tuesday at a local hospital, police said.

On Aug. 21, 2019 at 11:48 a.m., officers with the San Jose Police Department responded to the 4200 block of Pearl Avenue in response to a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

Police said a 71-year-old woman driving a 2005 Honda Accord was traveling north on Pearl Avenue and approaching Mountcastle Way when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk.

The victim was taken to a hospital and was ultimately pronounced deceased at the hospital on Tuesday.

Police said it does not appear drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision.
