Police Pursuit Ends After South Bay Man Crashes Car At Jailhouse
A San Jose man suspected of DUI had a short commute to his jail cell after he was arrested in front of the Santa Cruz jail.

SAN JOSE, CA — A San Jose man was arrested steps away from the Santa Cruz County jail after a Saturday afternoon police pursuit.
The pursuit began in Santa Clara County. The San Jose California Highway Patrol office notified Santa Cruz CHP officers around 3 p.m. that his Toyota Prius was headed across the county line, CHP said.
Santa Cruz CHP officers took over the pursuit on southbound Highway 17 at Mt. Hermon Road and continued to follow him into the city of Santa Cruz, with help from the Santa Cruz Police Department, CHP said.

CHP officers disabled the car and arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence and other felonies in front of the Santa Cruz County Jail.
Photos indicate his Prius jumped a curb along Ocean Street and crashed into a pole, with its bumper dangling from the passenger side of the vehicle. The courthouse could be seen in the background.
