SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – Staff at Sacred Heart Community Service in San Jose have been providing holiday food boxes to less fortunate families since 1964, but this year they are short 2,200 turkeys to go with the Thanksgiving meals, the group's officials said Sunday.

The Thanksgiving food distribution begins this morning at 9 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m. Wednesday when 4,200 families will pick up fresh vegetables, bread and pantry items.

As of Sunday only 2,000 will get turkeys.
