$19K Raised For Local Food Banks By Capitola Nob Hill
Nonprofit Raley's Food for Families raised a record $2.1 million total this year from customers, vendors and staff.
CAPITOLA, CA — Customers, suppliers and staff at the Capitola Nob Hill raised more than $19,200 for hungry area residents as part of the Raley's grocery chain annual holiday drive, Raley's Food For Families.
The store, at 809 Bay Ave., is one of three Santa Cruz County stores owned by Raley's. They raised a combined $55,900, with some $21,400 raised by the Scotts Valley shop and $15,000 raised by the Watsonville shop, according to numbers provided by a Raley's spokesperson.
Raley's Food For Families is a nonprofit organization that partners with 12 food banks in Northern California and Nevada — where the chain's stores are located — in hopes to reach the 1.4 million food-insecure people in those communities, Raley's wrote in a press release. The nonprofit worked with food banks to create holiday bags that reflect the needs of local customers.
