Body Recovered In Big Sur Crash ID'd As Capitola Woman
Kristen Kendall's Honda Civic went off a cliff Aug. 24 around 6:13 p.m., about 1 mile south of Esalen near mile marker 32 in Big Sur.

CAPITOLA, CA — A body found Wednesday near where a vehicle veered off Highway 1 in Big Sur and went off a 300-foot cliff has been identified as that of Capitola resident Kristen Kendall, 37.
The burgundy Honda Civic went off the cliff Aug. 24 around 6:13 p.m. about 1 mile south of Esalen near mile marker 32 in Big Sur. The vehicle was recovered the next day, and Kendall's body was found Aug. 28.
The car was registered to Kendall. There are no immediate reports that anyone else was inside the Civic when it veered off the cliff.

The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
