Denise Wendler's passion for yoga has taken her all over the world. She began studies in 1984 by taking various styles with teachers in California and Japan. In 1992, she took her first Iyengar class and connected with it so strongly that it changed the course of her life. Comprehensive training came to successful fruition after rigorous certification examinations in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Denise returned to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2004 and in 2005, she was fortunate to study with the Iyengar family in Pune at the Ramamani Memorial Iyengar Yoga Institute.

Wendler’s classes draw faithful students who appreciate her encouraging spirit and patient instruction. She enjoys working with students of all abilities and ages and teaches classes, workshops, and retreats in Northern California and beyond. Her goal is to not only coach people to greater physical strength and flexibility but to guide them toward a focused center of self-awareness, where she feels all great journeys begin.

Faithful student Tess Black of Aptos has been taking classes with Wendler for over five years. She had practiced yoga for 50 years plus, but had never studied Iyengar. “I was intrigued by the class title, ‘Yoga for 50+’ since it was fitting for my age group. I liked Denise from the first time we met; she’s consistent, considerate, and patient. She guides us through each asana in very clear language as well as modeling the pose with her own body, giving us modifications when it's too challenging on the first take. We students never suffer from it, we only benefit. I have never hurt myself in her class,” she says.
