Oath of Office Ceremony for New Capitola Police Chief

The City of Capitola is pleased to announce that Deputy Chief Rudy Escalante will be sworn in as the City’s new Police Chief.  A Santa Cruz native and a graduate of Santa Cruz High School, Deputy Chief Escalante has been in Santa Cruz County Law Enforcement for 27 years. The past two and a half years have been with the Watsonville Police Department as Deputy Police Chief; and prior to that, he spent over 24 years with the Santa Cruz Police Department rising through the ranks from Patrol Officer to Lieutenant.  Deputy Chief Escalante will be replacing Chief Michael Card who retires at the end of March.
