Kidnapped Capitola Teen Found Thanks To Snapchat Map Feature

Police say the girl was drugged, sexually assaulted and taken to a motel, where she told friends on Snapchat that she was kidnapped.

CAPITOLA, CA — The San Jose Police Department says a teenager was drugged in Capitola, kidnapped, sexually assaulted in a car and taken to a San Jose motel, where she was again sexually assaulted, but eventually able to contact friends on the Snapchat app, KION reported. The social media app has a map feature that allows users to see friends' locations, and her friends called 911 and directed first responders to her location.

San Jose police found her at the E-Z 8 Motel on North First street, where they arrested Albert Thomas Vasquez, 55, Antonio Quirino Salvador, 34, and Hediberto Gonzalez Avarenga, 31, KION reported. Vasquez is accused of assaulting the 14-year-old girl, and Salvador and Avarenga are accused of forcing her into their car.
