Man Accused Of Threatening Cab Driver With Knife Arrested: SCCSO

The Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office said the man refused to pay his taxi fare before threatening him with the knife.

APTOS, CA — A man was arrested after threatening a taxi driver with a knife and refusing to pay his cab fare in Aptos, the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office said. Ryan Hatton was arrested on suspicion of making threats and weapon possession Thursday, the sheriff's office said on social media.

Hatton refused to pay the fare for a taxi ride to the area of Park Avenue, pulled out a knife and threatened the cab driver, according to the sheriff's office. The terrified driver fled and called 911.

A sheriff's deputy was able to track down Hatton, who allegedly matched the description of the suspect and had a knife concealed in his jacket, the sheriff's office said. Hatton was arrested and booked into jail, according to the sheriff's office.
