Mermaids Prompting Street Closures In Capitola

CAPITOLA, CA — A school of mermaids will descend on Capitola Village Saturday, so expect a few traffic delays.

The T9 Mermaid Tri & Du Capitola takes place in the Village with road closures and traffic congestion expected from about 6 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The Mermaid event is a women's triathlon and duathlon designed "to provide a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere" for athletes from all backgrounds. The Mermaid Series is owned and operated by founder Carlo Facchino.
