SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Santa Cruz County voters decided in this primary whether the Santa Cruz County Supervisor, District 1 seat should go to the incumbent or his five challengers.

Incumbent John Leopold held a significant lead (45.8 percent) over the five challengers vying for his seat: Betsy Riker (5.7 percent), Benjamin Cogan (4.8 percent), Mark Esquibel (10.7 percent), Donald "Kase" Kreutz (3.5 percent) and Manu Koenig (29.3 percent).

District 1 spans a small portion of northern Santa Cruz, plus Live Oak, and Soquel and rural regions to the north.
