Hands-on Cooking Series with Chef Laura Casasayas-Pala for Teens 13 - 16
Looking for something different for your teen to do this summer? Let's start cooking! This series provides an unforgettable 4 days of cooking, learning, team challenges and FUN!
Campers will sharpen their culinary skills while developing healthy lifestyle concepts, like basic nutrition.
During the first three days we will prepare ourselves by practicing a variety of healthy recipes.
On the last day each participant is encouraged to invite one person of their choosing to join us and experience all of the culinary creations!
This series breaks down as follows:
Day 1: Tuesday, July 16
10am-11am: Welcome and introduction /Knife Skills and Safety /Kitchen Safety rules.
11am-12pm: Cooking: Pink Gazpacho, Hummus with Crudités, White Bean and Jackfruit Chili.
12pm-1pm: Lunch & review of recipes.
Day 2: Wednesday, July 17
10am-11am: Oven and stoves safety, cooking temperatures and preservation.
11am-12pm: Cooking: Vegan Beet Burger, Chicken and Rice Casserole, Salmon Tartar.
12pm-1pm: Lunch & review of recipes
Day 3: Thursday, July 18
10am-12pm- Cooking: Meringue Milk, Chocolate Mousse, Creme Brulee.
12pm-12:30pm Organizing and Shopping for tomorrow's event
12:30-1pm- Light lunch
Day 4: Friday, July 19
10am-10:30pm: Set up and planning for guest lunch.10:30-12pm: Cooking selected menu.
12pm-1pm Lunch and goodbyes.

About the Instructor:
Laura Casasayas was born in Catalonian, Spain and raised around food, stories and traditional cooking. Her grandmother taught her the magic of what ingredients make a delicious, nutritious homemade Spanish dish. Laura is a Spanish Acupuncturist, Dietitian and creator of the 11th Hour Coffee food menu. Laura has more than 10 years running her own practice in Spain. she Recently moved to Santa Cruz and has a very strong desire to keep educating and expanding awareness in mindful and healthy eating.
